How to play

Targeting

Last Updated: Apr 19th, 2026

Overview

Targeting is a core mechanic of combat. It defines who your actions are applied to, prevents misfires, and ensures abilities behave consistently. Understanding how targeting works will avoid wasted attacks and unintended interactions.

How does it work

To lock onto an enemy:

  1. Click the Target button on your game HUD
  2. Select a player from the list

Once selected, the system will:

  • Lock your target
  • Display the Target Panel on your HUD

Target Panel Overview

After locking a target, a dedicated panel appears on your HUD displaying:

  • Target portrait
  • Health bar (HP)
  • Blood bar
  • Distance (shown as hover text)

This panel confirms who you are interacting with at all times.

Target Lock Behavior

When a target is locked:

  • All attacks are restricted to that target
  • Attempting to attack another player will fail silently
  • The system will ignore invalid attack attempts

You must change or clear your target before attacking someone else.

No Target Behavior

If you have no target selected:

  • Pressing the attack button will:
    • Automatically attack the closest player in front of you
    • Based on the selected attack range

This is less precise and can lead to mistakes such as hitting an ally.

Quick Targeting (Shortcut System)

Players can bind a shortcut (example: T key) to quickly target enemies.

Behavior:

  • Instantly targets the closest valid player
  • Only detects players who are:
    • Wearing their game HUD
  • Will ignore:
    • Players without HUD
    • Non-player entities

This method is faster but more restrictive than manual targeting.

Targeting Restrictions

  • You cannot attack multiple targets simultaneously
  • You cannot attack a different player while locked
  • Some entities may be non-targetable depending on context

Extended Use Cases

Targeting is required for more than combat:

  • Giving items to another player
  • Throwing items (projectiles, consumables, etc.)
  • Clan invitations
  • Interaction-based abilities

Without a valid target, these actions will fail.

Practical Tips

  • Always confirm your target before attacking
  • Use manual targeting in crowded situations
  • Use shortcuts for fast reactions in combat
  • Avoid relying on auto-target if precision matters
